JP's Birthday
What a fabulous night we had on March 3rd as we joined the birthday celebration for JP at Bucanas. I have to say that I was a bit disappointed at the music played after the show this night, I guess it was merrengue, um cha umn cha night this week. But the fun was in the group. The show was great and the drinks even better. Joining in the celebration were Juan, Miguel, Hector, Tony, Michelle, Vicky, Louie, Christine, Gilbert and a friend (I am very bad with names, sorry) Henry, Eloy and Ramon, Woodiette aka woody (well he was already there) DJ Cheko and others that I did not have the pleasure of meeting. I still have food coloring on my hands from the delicious cake served that night. The night ended too soon but the celebration continues….... Voyager

SYM's Austin Road Trip

Well, we returned from Austin after a three-day weekend, where we attended the Phantom Of the Opera at the UT campus. A review will be written soon. We had a great time visiting the Speak Your Mind Austin group, meeting new friends and then their friends. A special thanks to Virginia, Edith and Gerardo. Thanks for your Hospitality. After a meeting in the Embassy Suite meeting room and we would go out to 6th street and party. It was Marti Grass weekend on 6th street so you can imagine the crowds of people. You certainly got an eyeful. We visited Oilcan Harry’s and Charlie’s on Friday. Our friends Edith and Virginia introduced us to some very nice people I just can’t remember their names, sorry. Ursula and James met us at Charlie’s and everyone had a good time dancing. There were many people from the Rio Grande Valley as we met some of them as we partied in the clubs. On Saturday we went to the Bass Concert Hall located in the UT campus and we enjoyed the Phantom Of the Opera. It was Great! Then we went to the Embassy Suite meeting room and had a few drinks while we waited for our friends to join us. We then took the hotel courtesy van to 6th street. and Whoa! Joined the crowd of thousands. All clubs were jammed packed and we entered one after a while and stayed there enjoying the music, conversation, “THE VIEW” and played games. We then went back to the Hotel with some friends and enjoyed their company till 530a. We regrettably had to return back to the valley on Sunday, only with a stop at the outlet stores in San Marcos first. Voyager

Trip to Austin

Well, this is the weekend that a group of SYM members will be heading for Austin to see The Phantom of the Opera. We have other SYM members who attend UT waiting for us so we can go out and party... We willl post a review when we return.

Oh what a night! The celebration was on as the VIP section was poppin' with Tony’s friends as we celebrated his birthday. Michelle, Christina, Vicky, JP, Lette, Jerry, Eloy, Mark, Juan, Hector, Fili, Henry and others whom I apologize now for I did not remember your name. Valentino’s was grooving as the Show was in its highlight with drag queens, male strippers, and a female dancer. It’s good in a way to see that things don’t change after a month of absence from the scene. SYM had not attended the weekly club rounds as Speak Your Mind was accustomed to doing. The Music had not changed much since our last visit but it was as good as we had not attended in awhile. Checko told me he was going to put 80’s music for me and sure enough it was played as the night progressed. Voodoo made a surprise visit. Drinks seemed to disappear from my grasp every time I returned from the dance floor. It seemed that everyone had a little something, as I cannot remember a minute of bored ness. 2’oclock seemed to run by as the music kept me dancing with great friends such as Juan, Voodoo, Michelle and for a bit Tony. Upon leaving we ran into Gilbert, his cousin Manny and Joe (pulga). The night continued at Speak Your mind where I had to leave at 4:30a as I could not have another drink and make it home safely. It’s great to know that there are many friends that make the night pleasurable. Until next time. Voyager

Our First BBQ of 2004

Hello again members of Speak Your Mind. Its been a long time since a newsletter has been done, but now we have a web site!! Thanks to the imagination of Henry.

Where to begin.... Saturday January 31st Speak Your Mind had their first barbeque of the year. Held the Black Velvet patio Lounge. In attendance were old and new friends like JP, Lett, Cristina, Christy Perales, Hector, Henry, Juan, Luz, Monica, Boy, Laura, Barbarita, Vicky, Kristin, Joe, David, Clari, her brother Rey and a long time friend of many years, Eddie. Missing at this weekend’s BBQ was Miguel. He was saving lives at the Hospital and Tony who fell asleep.

The grill was manned by Eddie, who has his fair share of cooking experience by working at restaurants and the kitchens of the oil rig platforms for many men...hint, hint..Lucky him. The food was exquisite, Enough to feed an army. Chicken, ribs, hotel ribs, fajitas, sausage, baked potato’s , rice, cheese cake, and home made apple cake.

The Champagne flowed endlessly. Beer for the straight guys. Cocktails made by Juan, Midori sours, screwdrivers, sapphire martini’s for Henry. After the eating talking and laughing the Speak Your Mind Group was winding down, playing poker, Uno and domino’s. We called it and early night with people leaving about 3:30a. Henry and I stayed up talking and we get Joe coming back because he couldn’t sleep. So we played Uno again till about 4:30a. It’s great to have friends like us. Everyone at SYM is unique in their own way. Nobody ever change. Friends forever. Juan
