Happy 48th Birthday ![]() Madonna is now 48 as of August 16th and has admitted that she hopes she's still a gay icon, and that she and her gay fans are "mutually inspired" by one another. The superstar, who?is currently on her Confessions Tour is enjoying #1 singles from her best dance album yet, "Confessions? On A Dance Floor."? Releases so far have been: Hung Up, Sorry, Get Together and the soon to be released, Jump.? She has always worked to fully represent her gay fans, and that she formed some of her closet friendships with gay men in the 1980s. "I like to think we've been mutually inspired by one another," she told Attitude magazine. "Maybe it's because the first person that ever believed in me was gay. My ballet teacher. He was the first person that made me feel like I was special and, I dunno, I think that was the beginning of some kind of unconscious connection." When asked about her gay-icon status, she admitted she "hopes" she is still the biggest gay icon of all time. She also says she agrees with Kylie Minogue's assessment that she is the princess, while Madonna is the queen. "That's very good," she says. "We like it that way." And on another note, Madonna faces her fiercest critic ever - her daughter Lourdes. The nine-year-old isn't afraid to tell her famous mother what she thinks of her behavior, and didn't approve of watching her then, 47-year-old mom gyrating in a leotard during her Hung Up video. Lourdes said, 'Yuck, that's disgusting. "Why are you behaving like that?" Madonna tells PageSix.com, "She's even asked me if I am gay". She'd seen me kiss Britney Spears at the MTV Awards. I tried to explain, "No, darling, I just kissed her to give her my energy."
