![]() Back ![]() ![]() August, Friday the 13th, 2004 will be engraved in my memory because it was the night I saw Rock N' Roll ICONS, Legends of the Infamous and Phenomenal group - KISS! It was beyond a concert. It was beyond a show. It was a spectacle and an extraordinary, heart-given performance from: Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer whom have earned the respect and the privleage to be called, 'The #1 Band In The World!" Driving around town going crazy trying to find black & white facial make-up/paint for the festive night was frustrating and tiredsome, but in the end, it was extremely worth it. The prelude to the concert was also exciting as Louie and I painted our faces and took several pics at my home. You will have to agree that we did an awesome and impressive job. We were definitly getting the attention and getting double, tripple glances by passing motorists and their children as we drove on the insterstate along with thousands of other KISS Army fans towards our destination, The Dodge Arena to see the Incomparable, KISS! Simply arriving at the arena trying to find parking was fun and seeing several people with painted faces began to get Louie and I all hyped up. We had arrived at KISS LAND! The wait was not that long as we waited for it to begin, but still, we were anxious and ready to start jumping, yelling and singing. All of a sudden the lights were turned off, the crowd stood and began to scream and roar as a humungous black tapestry with huge silver letters that spelled out K I S S rolled down infront of the stage. It hung there for about two to three minutes as the fans began to chant: KISS! -KISS! - KISS! - KISS! - KISS! When all of a sudden the tapestry was dropped to the floor and at the top of the stage a huge T.V. screen was LIVE -showing the fabulous foursome walking from the dressing room, down the hall, (the crowd was getting louder and louder and my ears were ringing) the boys waving at the camera, getting ready to take the stage, pointing out #1 and the traditional Gene Simmons "Tongue" lick, as the camera focused to the sign that said, "Entrance to Stage" - eveyone is at their feet, and with enormous and thunderous yells you could barely hear, "Are you Ready Rio Grande Valley? You asked for the best - You got the best! The #1 Band In The World - K I I I I I I I SSSS!!!! Pyrotechniques, special effects, over 50 t.v. monitors, flames were scorching high and the spectacular light show had begun, and their they stood on their 12 inch platforms, leather, make up and all: Gene, Paul, Tommy and Eric. They opened up with "Love Gun" and followed with "Deuces." I had a massive adrenaline rush, goose bumps all over my body as I sang along. Without a doubt, that was the best night of life and the best concert I have ever gone too and by far, probably will be THE BEST I will ever attend. It does not get better than a KISS LIVE Spectacle. Gene was being carried by bunjee cords to platforms over the stage, Gene and Tommy were elevated on minature platforms on each side of the stage, Eric(drummer) drumset platform was elevated with smoke coming out from beneath which made it look like a miniature spaceship. Boom! Boom! Boom! Loud Pyros throughout the show. It was truly a Must - See Concert. Love Gun, Deuces, Shout It Out Loud, Detroit Rock City, Love Machine, Lick It Up and Rock N Roll All Night were part of the playlist just to name a few. One of the show's highlights was when Paul went from front, center stage to the opposite side of the arena on a cord where he arrived and stood on a mini stage/platform while singing to "I Was Made For Loving You." Everyone was going crazy as people began running towards the back with cell/cams to take pics. The show ended with "Rock N' Roll All Night" with tons of confetti all over the arena. IT WAS BEYOND AWESOME! Even for the Non-KISS fan, it is truly a "Show" you must see whenever you have the opportunity. It is not your regular concert or show. IT IS AN EXPERIENCE! A SPECTACLE and truly for many - Once In A Lifetime Experience. It does not get better than this. They were the pioneers in the 70's with massive shows and performances and I will quote: "After 30 years of Conquering the Entire Free World, KISS begins a Monunmental Tour of Celebration by Revisiting Nations Worldwide that fell to its Thunderous Rock......" (taken from KISS - ROCK the NATION 2004 World Tour) Paul told the sold out crowd that he loved the RGV, even spoke some spanish, and said, he was impressed with us and that HE WANTS TO COME BACK! I will hold him 'THEM' to that. I used to collect KISS memorbilia in the late 70's and early 80's and I have been struck by the KISS ARMY Fever again! hint - hint ShAnTii ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Are you talking to me?
