![]() BACK ![]() Is Someone Lying To You
By ShAnTii
Some people like to have the spotlight. Well, maybe perhaps not the spotlight, but some attention would be nice. And maybe too much attention is never enough. I am sure some of you readers have that certain friend whom I will call Billy, that always likes to tell stories which are all pure lies. Pure fiction. What can one do, but listen. It makes me think if every story or situation that Billy tells me is real or not. It is like listening to a soap opera - and then some. Oh Billy, how can I ask you if it is true to some of the tales you tell. Billy, how can I tell you that you are a pathological liar and you need help. A pathological liar believes in the lies, at least at the time that she or he is talking. Their stories tend to be very dramatic. They often portray a person as being smarter, braver, more attractive, financially better off and more interesting than she or he really is. Sometimes people begin to catch onto pathological liars because of obvious flaws in the stories. I once told a story that was not real. I realized a little too late that I had done damage, so I stopped. Cowardly, up to this date, I let it go and sometimes I do dwell and go back to it, but it is better left behind me. At the time it made me feel special, wanted, exciting and like I was someone important. Now that I look back, all I can say is that it was stupid, dumb and utterly disappointing. Do I consider myself a pathological liar - no I don't. True! I lied, but I did not make it a pattern. Thank goodness for that.
Good luck Billy.
