Guy or a Lie?
When I hear someone go on and on about what he won’t do, who he won’t date, or what he does or doesn’t want it really makes me wonder… Is it just this one guy who is missing the point? Are gay men looking for a guy or a lie? Maybe the real problem is that we don’t really know what we are looking for so we fall back to what everyone else tells us we should be seeking. Read More

Splash Planning

Hey People, Sorry I haven't updated the guirre page in a while but this has been a busy month. I posted the splash page, and I am working on the Spring Break Page. It's been hard getting information for Spring Break. Thanks to those of you who have helped with the pictures. It takes time to post those too and it seems that lately the Vals page had been getting more and more pictures to work on. We have so many events coming up with Birthday planning, Spring Break events and Splash planning that SYM will be busy so I figured I'd write what I could. Also I need to work on the news page. Those of you who wish to contribute an article please e-mail as soon as you can so I can post it. Hard to believe this web page has been on-line for a year now. Until later....

Dear Voyager 1/21/05

New cologne… check. New designer, over-priced underwear… check. Family-size bottle of lube (with an easy-to-use pump)… check. Lots of mints… check. I think I’m almost ready for February – LOVE month! I love all of the happenings that go on during February. In my city, they should have have “single and bitter” parties in February, which are always hilarious! At these parties, You always get a reality check on what you do not what to end up as – a tired, nasty old homo. However, it’s great to meet other fabulously single guys like me!

Recently, two friends of mine became fabulously single, and then started dating two hours after the breakup! UGH, talk about two man pussies in heat! And both of these friends kept dating, as if men would become scarce to them. I was like, “Sweeties, put some breaks on, and look at what’s going on.” These guys truly did not know how to be single, and they have forgotten how wonderful it is to live alone. According to the 2000 Census and other supplemental surveys, each state reported only 1.09 percent of its gay households as coupled. That means 98.91 percent of gay households are uncoupled. Being single is the majority. It’s normal!

I have been a professional bachelor for about four years, and I have done more and seen more because of it! I’ve come to have a heightened awareness of myself, too. However, the pressure to be coupled from gay media, gay advocacy and political groups, and my community can be a bit distracting. Singledom is often perceived as negative and dysfunctional. Coupled gay men and women see singles as horny, promiscuous, around-the-clock sex machines (well, some of my friends are), and so they will never be coupled. This perception is utter hogwash! Personal validation should not come from the ability to maintain a relationship. It should come from the good things you do and by being the good person you are. So, to all of those coupled gay men and women who turn their noses up at us single folk – get over yourselves! You are banal and bourgeois. And to all my single friends, I love you all and I know we’ll all find a soul mate someday. Besides, we’ll always have better booty calls than those coupled homos!

As always, thank you all for reading and writing me; your well wishes are appreciated and loved. I hope the readers in this column can take a chill pill and love life! Remember to always love yourself and then go shag another – get sexed up! Now, I’ve got to shower and put on my new fancy undies… LOVE month is just around the corner! Licks to all!
