![]() CLICK HERE to go back. ![]() I guess we all get bogged down with life’s baggage and we need a short getaway once in a while. It doesn’t really matter if you are gay, straight, bi, or asexual - we all need to take a step back from ourselves once in a while to evaluate what we are putting in and getting out of our lives. Because life is like a bank account, you can only make so many withdrawals before one deposit runs out. ![]() "let Your Soul Take You Where You Want To Be," and that is exactly what we did as we routed ourselves to Austin, Texas to enjoy once again, The Phantom of The Opera. This was the third time that I have seen "The Phantom" and each time is special in its own way. Monica, Juan, Henry, Miguel, Louie and myself enjoyed a wonderful and an unforgettable night at the Bass Concert Hall at the University of Texas. Getting to our destination was undoubtably a blast as Louie & I traveled in "The Tank" listening to all kinds of music as the rest of the gang took off earlier that Friday afternoon. After arriving at the wrong hotel to check in, I finally found the correct one where we checked in with our good friend, "Dennis" and then strottled to I-Hop where it took a long time for us to even be acknowledged. hehe Then the partners in crime headed back to the hotel watched some t.v. and hit the pillows. We met up with the rest of SYM Saturday afternoon and ate at the 'food court' at (I forgot the name of the mall.) We walked around the mall and took some pictures as well. We went on a little "kool-aid" (yeah right) shopping spree at H.E.B. and headed back to hotel. The evening was a lot of fun as we prepared ourselves for 'The Phantom." We couldn't wait for the festive night to be at hand. Finally, we took off and arrived at the Bass Concert Hall and practically ran to ensure we were there in time for the "Opening of the Curtain." We were SOLD - once more and were moved as if it were the first time we had seen it. If I were to be asked to go see it again, I would have to say, 'YES.' Speak Your Mind walked out in awe and ready to hit the town. 6th Street was phenomenally packed in their version of "Mardi Gras." We ended up at a kewl str8t club where several of us played; ice hockey, soccer and pool. The drinks were Mmmarvelous as well. It is always fun and exciting to see the skyscrapers and the skylines of Austin & San Antonio. Gotta Love It! I'm looking forward to our next road trip. Thanks for a fun-filled week-end Henry, Juan, Miguel & Monica. Louie, we must hit San Antonio again to do some unfinished business and thanks for the help in the driving. I needed it! hehe Bye all - and keep the world turning!! ShAnTii ![]() ![]() Sonia's Birthday Wed February 18th began with a Birthday celebration for Sonia at Johnny Carino's where the reserved table grew and grew and grew as every invited guests showed up for the celebration. There were many Speak Your Mind members and friends. ShAnTii was the usual life of the party with his funny self and his crazy singing. There was Laura, Miguel, Monica, Henry, Shantii, Juan, Tony, Ursula, Sonia, Vince, Michelle etc. The waiters were the best ever. Thanks for putting up with such a demanding group. You were great. Then after a short trip to Speak Your Mind, we adjourned to Buchanan’s for the Wednesday “alternative night” where other SYM friends and members joined us. The music was great as we got to enjoy a genre that is not played at other clubs. The show started a little after midnight and seemed to linger a bit but afterwards the DJ played the great 80’s music that had many Speak Your Members dancing for a while. Before I forget, we were surprised to see Hector R. and his wife Gabby show up. Great friends like them made the night enjoyable. It’s sad that the club had to close at 2am but we made the best of it. As you know from out past articles, The SYM Site staff will be out of town this weekend (the 20th) reviewing the Phantom of the Opera play and visiting some of the Clubs in Austin. We will be joining the Speak Your Mind UT Austin staff for a night out on Fri and Sat. They will take us to some of the clubs in Austin. We will post a clip about the night when we return. Hopefully we will have some pictures, as our photographer will be with the group. You can still access us via Phone or e-mail, as we will take our wireless Internet with us. Take care and until Monday. SYM Staff He's Back
Well hello everyone, i'm back from resurection!!!! I've come back to tell ya a update everyone from the past, on February 6th 2004, we had a B-B-Q for one of our Speak Your Mind members. Happy Birthday Ursula!!! We had everyone there except for Hector and Louie and maybe a few other friends but well, the regular loyal ones made there grand appearance. Everything turned out very good, we had lots of fun, alot of talking and laughing especially drinking, gawd I only had 4 bottles of champagne this time and i felt screwed up, I think I was still drunk from last bbq ( ha ha ). Ofcourse we tried so hard to just stay at the black velvet patio but it was a lil hard for some of us, we had to make a cameo and follow the rainbow down to valentinos and dance the night away. Once again...thanks for everything juan and miguel. This is it for now, its time for me to go back into my tomb, till next time, everyone take care, have fun, lots of hot wild monkey sex, and always remember, " YOU CAN LOOK BUT NOT TOUCH,U CAN TOUCH BUT NOT TASTE, U CAN TASTE BUT NOT SWALLOW" ( unless ur name is J.P.) LOVE ALL OF U J.P. Ursula's Birthday 2-6-04 ![]() Well another great night at The Black Velvet Patio Lounge was at hand where we celebrated Ursula’s birthday. It was a cool night and the heat was on after a couple of drinks as we enjoyed listening to the conversations at the patio bar. I missed our fabulous cook Miguel, because Juan suckered me into manning two grills with help from Joe a.k.a. Pulga. I learned a lesson that night. 1.) Don’t get near a man cooking at a BBQ and 2.) If he says hold the fork RUN.!! The food was great and delicious as usual. JP showed off his Martha Stewart skills baking a wonderful chocolate bunt cake that had everyone breaking their diets. Christina brought spanish rice, Tony the infamous beans; Monica brought some delicious potato salad. In addition to all of the above, other menu items were fajitas, hotel ribs, sausage, chicken, cheesecake and snacks. It seems like tradition and as always, J.P., a.k.a. Camille was at the HEAD of the patio bar. I, for one will sure miss the day the Diva decides to sit somewhere else. The bar was fully stocked as usual and kept our lips moist and wet. JP served glasses of Champagne all night for the exception of those he set aside reserved for him. The bar was left with more than half of its supply but it wont last long after that. Many SYM members were missing from the BBQ but the fun was surely there with this magical bunch. In attendance were: Ursula, J.P., Tony, Lette, Christina, Vicky, Jerry, Juan, Joe, David, Claudie, Laura, Monica, and I probably can’t remember whom else. It was the first time that Christian (Christina’s brother j/k see picture on right.) and a friend (YaYa) came over. Hector, our official SYM photographer was lost! Joey was nowhere to be found. Ruben was on a date and there are too many others to mention. We don’t have pictures of the night to post because no one had a camera or a “haysosiegate” cell at the time we remembered that we wanted to take pictures. I am not about to grab the camera to take pictures because I hate taking them as much as I hate being in them. Some of the gang left after midnight to make a visit to Val’s but nothing was ever mentioned about that night. The rest moved into Speak Your Mind and had more drinks, snacks and laughs! ShAnTii
Speak Your Mind - those 3 little words mean so much to me and is music to my ears. Thanks to SYM, 2003 was an unforgettable year. I have been friends of J&M for a bit over 2 decades and a long the way, I have have been privileged in meeting new awesome and extraordinary friends. I am not going to mention specific names because eventually and unfortunately I am more than sure that I will unintentionally leave some beautiful person out. haha Whether we are at a barbecue at the Black Velvet Patio Lounge, enjoying a delicacy at Cha Cha Heels Bistro, Roadhouse, Chili's, or dancing our little tush at Val's, Moulin, Bucana's it is always a riot dancing with just anyone in the group. J.P. I love dancing with and for you hun. For those of you who don't know me I'm the one who everyone tells to "shut up, sit down, behave, stop taking pics and behave they are looking at us!" haha I am Hector a.k.a ShAnTii, Bisquick, Hec, Tarzanboy, Chancle, Beeatch, La Sombra de Boy George in a month or so! haha You can call me whatever you want - just don't call me baby because I will be all over you darlin' like gravy on mash potato whether you are a male or female. I have been a member of SYM since April of 2003. I will be celebrating my 1st anniversary soon and I intend to make a grand party where else but at "Speak Your Mind." haha - I do have to mention "Thank You" from the bottom of my heart to Juan, Miguel, Henry and Louie for luring me into this "phenomenal" group in which we know as "Speak Your Mind!" Speak Your Mind is not all about partying and getting down and out drunk, but being there for one another in times when we need friends the most. . Several of our SYM members lost a loved one this past year including myself. I lost my grandmother and SYM was there for me. Words can not express how I felt with the phone calls, emails, visits, floral arrangement and a simple hug to get through this grieving period in my life. I love you all! mua* Now i'm going to let you all know what Hectorino has been up to. Nothing! j/k. My homeboy Louie and I have been hitting Metrapolis in McAllen on (most) Fridays. We usually stay up at the attic on Goth Night. It is awesome though I do have to admit that one night, one of the DJ's was totally out of it & he sucked so we ended up at Whataburger! I want to go to wHaTaBuRgEeer....! I visit Val's at least once a week. Right after the New Year's I did go on Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sun like good ol' times. I have to go give a yell out to DJ Checo and a little slap on the butt to our "little Sammyboy." Louie and I hit Bucana's on Wednesday February 4th and saw the longest ass drag show ugh! Oh, by the way - ROCKETS! ROCKETS! (inside humor from The Tank) I'm still engaged!!!!! I'm still working and paying my bills and hopefully, will be the next Secretary to George Alan O'Dowd. Does anyone know who he is? Let me know. Right now, i'm looking forward to the Charro Days Festivities where I will be judging the Male Tug-Of-War, and I will be in the Sausage Eating Contest. I have to eat at least 10 8in sausages in 5 minutes. NO PROBLEM! Not even a gag. Can't wait to get on the "Zipper" at the carnival. You better not back out on me. (you know who you are) On one last note, Juan, Miguel, Henry, Monica, Louie and I will be going to see the Phantom of the Opera in Austin, Texas on the 21st of February. I can't wait for that. It'll be my 3rd time in seeing the Phantom. If you care to know more about me you can look me up at Nobodysfool1130@aol.com or call me at 956-459-dugh - jk Have a great time in whatever you do and don't forget, whether you're gay, bi or str8t - i think you're great! Until next time, powder up, chin up, stretch the brow, pucker up, wink and be happy! Keep the world turning. p.s. hope you like my pics. the pic with the black shirt i took before heading to metro and the one lying in bed i took of myself at 4 am all bored. haha ciao - ShAntii From JP
Well hello my sweetest hearts, I hope you and Brownsville is ready for my drama cuz im about to spread it to you and ur momma :-). I would like to begin by thanking all of my friends for being the wonderful, loving, caring and big hearted drama queens anyone could possibly have. It all started one night at a BBQ at Speak Your Mind a million thanks to Juan and Miguel who get the pleasure of providing me with champagne every time I visit Speak Your Mind, but then again, not like I'm gonna reject it (ha ha). It all starts outside, in the Black Velvet Patio Lounge, sitting at the wet bar and of course I being the head of the bar, entertaining everyone with my drama, and it goes from playing games, to drinking, saying jokes, to drinking, to talking to drinking, to eating, to drinking and after that its like a " lets see who drinks the most contest", for some strange reason it never fails that I never leave with out drinking 7 bottles of champagne aside from all my drinks, I’m sure by know ur calling me an alcoholic, well...I don’t go to AA meetings so just call me a drunk, but all I have to say to this is...instead of saying Dorothy’s line of " there’s no place like home" I say..."there’s no friends like them" Juan & Miguel, I Love You both very much and thanks for everything. Now lets take a ride on the RAINBOW and head to Valentino’s. What lovely night we have been enjoying at vals with special performances by "Beyonce a.k.a---J.P." and Special Guest " Boy George...a.k.a---Hector" There’s nothing like seeing him enjoy his time making everyone laugh to seeing him imitate some Drag Queens, and doing some crazy things out on the dance floor, to seeing TONY in heat with every guy who crosses his eyes and wanting to sleep with everyone, to seeing me dance the night away, checkin out them guys out there, to seeing Juan take the floor away and take everyone with him to dance, sipping on his 32oz drinks, while Miguel is busy flirting with all the guys passing buy and not realizing he's had a lil to much to drink , to seeing everyone trying to get Miguel to go when its time to leave with out making him angry and or having him yell at u and call u a Pinche Gordo, ha ha ha. This is just some of what goes on with us at the club while we're out enjoy our time and the accompany of each other. Well before I close this drama theater for now I'd like to say a few words to JUAN..." WE GOTTA LOVE OUR GOOD FRIEND", wink, wink, inside joke between u and I. Stay tuned to my next episode of DRAMA AROUND BROWNSVILLE. .......JP | In The Guirre Archives Feb to April 2004 | In The Guirre - May 2004 | In The Guirre June-July 2004 | The Guirre August 2004 | In The Giurre Sept-Nov 2004 | In The Guirre Dec 2004 - Jan 2005 | In the Guirre Jan-Mar 05 | The Guirre April 05 | The Guirre April - July 05 | The Guirre Aug-Sept 05 | The Guirre Oct - Dec 05 | The Guirre - June 2006 | | Klick N Read Nov to Mar 07 | Klick & Read Aug/Oct 06 | Henri On | In The Guirre | AN ORDINARY DAY | A Night With Twilight | | Return Home | Klick N Read | Venue Photos | SYM Photos | News Etc | VALENTINOS | My Space | Great Links | FAQ Page | Contact Us | |
