A Breath Taking Diana Ross Concert
Written By: ShAnTii

As we, Henry, (sister Mary Lou) and myself drove on 10th Street towards the Dodge Arena and got closer, cars were bumper to bumper.  Soon as we got to our destination and walked towards the arena's entrance, people were either talking about how many times Diana Ross was going to have costume changes or singing a Diana Ross or Supreme's song.  I was singing "Baby Love" as I gleefully walked towards the entrance.

We arrived with a one mile smile on our faces and went straight to the souvenir table.  Unfortunately, the Diana Ross  entourage did not have a lot to select from.  From the selections of her New CD 'I Love You,' T-shirts,  program and tote bag, - I bought myself a T-shirt and a program.  She did not have key chains!!! One less for my avid key collection.

The stage was not a large set-up, but it was simple and nice. The background of transparent burgundy and white curtains which allowed miniature stars and ray beams to peek on through during different songs throughout the concert were  beautiful.

Finally, the band walked onto the stage and the arena was dark, as red lights illuminated the band.   The music started and the people got on their feet and began to chant, "Diana!  Diana!  Diana!"  When all of a sudden it is finally sung, "I'm-  Coming - Out....!" A roar was heard all over the arena and again, "I'm - Coming - Out..! was heard but still, no Diana Ross  on  stage.  Everyone was excitingly looking to the stage - where is she?  The yells turned into screams and a third time -" I'm - Coming - Out! is heard and BOOM!!!  There she was center stage at the top of a black stairway with the spotlight totally to her alone as she sang, "I'm coming out, I want the world to know - I want to let it show........, wearing a gorgeous red ultra-glamorous sequin gown with a mini train and a beautiful over-sized chiffon, ruffled, shiny wrap around!!!!!  Everyone was excited. I was yelling and whistling galore. She looked just as beautiful as ever. She had her signature crazy and wild hair, the Diana Ross ruby red lipstick and the angelic Ms. Ross voice. It was a magnificent concert. She had four costume changes. (Red, Yellow, White and black). All four evening gowns matched beautifully with the beaded, sequin, matching humongous boas and gorgeous long earrings and glittered high heeled pumps. SHE WAS TRULY - THE  DIVA OF COSTUME CHANGE.  Sure gave CHER  a run for her money.  We were at the floor level with a phenomenal view at row seventeen.  I still used my binoculars and got shivers many, many times as I zoomed in and could not believe that it was actually her singing Diana Ross.  I totally lost it when she sang, "Do You Know." I lost it even more and I mean literally lost it when she and her singers started to sing.....AAAAaaaaaaaah - AAAaaaaaaaaah - AAAaaaaaaaah - Uuuuuuuuuu - UUUuuuuuuu...... If you need me, call me. No matter where you are, no matter how far. Just call my name, I'll be there in a hurry. On that you can depend and never worry. Tears rolling down my cheeks, I was mesmerized and loving every minute of it. I am glad I took advantage of the opportunity to see her so close to home. It is rumored that this might be her last time on the road, but if ever she has a farewell tour as Tina and Cher did, I will definitely go see her again.   Though, this tour she is NOT touring with her symphony it is a smaller scaled band and her venues are a lot smaller as the liking of the Dodge Arena and other Hotels and Casinos, it was still a studded performance, DIVAlicious, a once in a lifetime opportunity and in my opinion, a Five Star Concert Performance - EXCELLENT!
