Splash is about to hit South Padre Island once again and gay people will come from all parts of the valley and other states to party and to be out and proud. For local merchants and local and out of town attendees, it is considered to be another Springbreak. It will kick off on Thursday, October 5th at the Upper Deck and continue throughout the week-end at Club Las Ventanas at the Bahia Mar Resort, Club Chaos and conclude at the Upper Deck
This grand spectacle is held in the fall and in the Spring. It is a definite money maker for the club that houses the main event. Tequila Frogs used to host the grand party. This time around, the main event will take place at Club Chaos where it made it's debut in April 2006 and will return for a second visit the 1st week of October. Speak Your Mind has been a proud & strong promoter of Splash and many pictures have been taken as well throughout the past three years. Our site likes to push events such as this.
Splash is extra special for most gay people because it is a bit different than being at a gay club. It is a time to be a bit more flamboyant, charismatic and loud. Most closeted gay people come out for this night, but for the 100% hard-core out and proud boys and girls, go all out with outrageous costumes, make-up and stunning appearances. A lot of sequin and/or skin is seen throughout the night. Of course, you will have your casual people as well wanting to be in the scene of it all and still able to mix and fit in just as nice. I have to admit that it is a low key event. There is no gay parade with queen boys and prince girls shouting, "we're hear, we're queer - get used to it!" It is a simple week-end of intimate fun, dance, party, drinks and well, use your imagination.
I am sure that many are planning what to wear to this grand circuit event at South Padre. The fall theme is usually The White Party theme. How ironic right, being that white is suppose to be an off season color. The White Party is very popular with gay populations. After a little research on the net, I read that the white party, was co-founded by fashion designer Frank Wager, that started as a small fundraising event in 1985. Since then it has been in many gay events around the world. The White Party has been featured in W, Glamour, Magazine, The New York Times, and has been on several documentaries on Bravo, The Travel Channel, the BBC, Playboy Channel and other magazines and channels as well.
So, as everyone wonders what the Splash Divas: Valerie Paris, Asa Brooks, Chanel Dumont, Kayla York, Christina Ross, Mia Paris and Johnnycat just to name a few, will be wearing, we have to patiently wait to endure it all, one Diva, one performance, one night at a time! Save your energy to go Splashing very soon. Watch out for the camera!
